Warm up involved looking at 4 pairs of figures and reasoning which one doesn't belong which led to a discussion on rigid motions vs non-rigid motions. Informally looked at translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. Then looked at several dot patterns with a contemplate-then-calculate procedure and finally introduced the project due 3 weeks from today (Nov 6)

Warm up was an angle chase involving parallel lines and triangle angle sum. Looked at applications of transformations including a creative marching band performance, symmetrical art and symmetry in nature, and mathematical animated digital art. Examined the definition of congruence by doing a "spot the differences" activity which led to the definition of congruence. Did our first transformation involving a quadrilateral and a translation using a given rule in arrow notation. Used our vocabulary to accurately describe the movement of Ms Pac-Man as a combination of translations, reflections, and rotations. Will finish next class if needed.

Thursday/Friday
Most classes finished the Pac Man activity to start class. Went over homework and looked over example projects. Then did a simple reflection over a line to understand that the line of reflection bisects the segment that connects each image point to its pre-image. Reflected on the coordinate plane with various lines of reflection including x-axis, y-axis, y=x, y=-x, and any arbitrary vertical or horizontal line.
