Some classes were very small due to the 9th/10th retreat. Worked on geometric mean problems building on skill from last class.
Examples from board
Homework
study for assessment: new skill is geometric mean (SRT-B5d), old skills are proportions within triangles (SRT-B4a) and similar triangle criteria (SRT-A3a)
Study Resources
SRT-B5d: basic premise of geometric mean: link
SRT-B5d: several geometric mean examples worked out: link1 link2
SRT-B5d: multiple part geometric mean: link
SRT-A3: determining if two triangles are similar, criteria: link 1 (by me!) link2
SRT-B4a: finding missing side lengths with parallels: link link2 link3 link4
SRT-B4a: figuring out if a segment is parallel or not: link
Warmup was another geometric mean problem, solved 2 different ways (involving proportions and also with Pythagorean Theorem + geometric mean). Reviewed proportions within triangles involving parallel lines, then took an assessment on these topics along with similar triangle criteria.
Notes from board
Homework: watch and take notes on this video: direct link
(A sub was present for 3A and 4A.) Assessments were passed back and debriefed with peer experts. Then we learned about special right triangles in more detail, by watching and taking notes on this video in 3A/4A:

the two videos above should handle most of it but....
