Explored the idea of similarity in a bit more depth through a task on dilation. Examined this applet together: link . Emphasized importance of center of dilation and the scale factor. A scale factor less than 1 will make the image smaller. Then worked on a dilation construction task as well as a coordinate exercise. Worksheet here .
Homework: Finish worksheet if needed.
Tuesday/Wednesday
Monday's worksheet will be collected Thursday/Friday in addition to tonight's homework. Started with a journal activity describing how to dilate a figure. Looked at similarity as it relates to the coordinate plane and studied coordinate notation involving dilations and other transformations. Took notes together and then worked on practice problems in small groups. Then explored the topic further through homework worksheet.
Homework: Wksht problems 4, 8, 9, 15-12-16, 19-25
Thursday: 1A, 3A
Turned in two worksheets, one from Monday and one from Tuesday. Writing journal activity to launch class. Worked through two exploration labs involving protractor and ruler constructions, discovering the SAS~ and AA~ similarity shortcuts. Then explored rep-tiles through 4 puzzle shapes. Similarity lab worksheets here.
Homework: None :)
Friday: 2B, 3B
No school because of snow day. Will discuss on Wednesday (next class).
