Test on similarity. No homework. Next unit is on trigonometry.
Tuesday/Wednesday
Began trigonometry unit with new central question and examined applications of trigonometry in real life including astronomy and rocket science. Developed ideas of sine, cosine, and tangent by measuring and comparing with ratios, certain lengths of a given triangle and identifying patterns. Learned the SohCahToa memory aid, as well as a silly story to help remember how it goes: Soak-a-toe-uh. Began homework in class.
Homework: p. 529-30, #21-27, 37-43, 57, 72

Thursday/Friday
Passed back similarity tests. Corrections (optional) are due Thurs/Fri of next week. Looked at some more applications of trigonometry, including a fun video and the graphs of sine and cosine and their wave/periodic behavior. Practiced more with trig functions and learned about the inverse trigonometric functions, which can find an angle when all you have are the side measures for a right triangle. Some more info on this topic.
Homework. Test corrections if necessary; finish worksheet
