Monday
We started class with a warm-up and lesson based on this worksheet. It helped review how to plot finds, find the distance between points, how to find the midpoint, and how to find the slope of the line made by two points as well as the parallel line and perpendicular line slopes that come from it. Here is the completed version of the worksheet for your reference. See Resources below for more study aids on these concepts.
We then tied that information together with an idea from Algebra I called "Point-Slope Form" which allows one to make the equation of a line given any point, and the slope. We used the midpoint as our point, and the perpendicular slope as our slope, and wrote out the solution. The video below illustrates this concept.
This skill is practiced on the homework, linked below, as well as other review skills on how to make a geometric picture from words and then derive a simple equation from that picture.
